The first HypnoDomme?
By The Englishman

You know a lot of people I meet, particularly older people look back with great nostalgia to about 55 years ago. They say that in those days kids had respect for their elders, you could trust people more, you could leave your house and car unlocked etc etc. I personally don’t agree with them. I think in those times, society was racist, sexist, homophobic and generally a lot nastier than now. There was blatant discrimination against people from ethnic minorities and it was very much a man’s world and it was very hard for a woman to have equal rights with men. By and large many men considered women to be “the weaker sex”, who should stay at home, and be “seen and not heard”.

One person of that time who did think that women should have equal rights was Daisy. Born in 1930, her dad died tragically in a mining accident when she was very young. Her mother and grandmother brought her up. Her mother had studied the ways of the native American Indians and very much appreciated how in their society although the braves and the squaws had very clearly defined roles, both were considered necessary for the tribe and both were valued equally. That is how males and females should be regarded, she told Daisy. They were both convinced that one-day this would be so, and that men and women needed each other.

Another interest of Daisy’s was hypnosis, eagerly learned from a library book she had found. She used to practice on her cat, and although she couldn’t get it to follow many of her commands, she did train it to sleep for her, under a mixture of strokes and gently talking to it.

Her first job was a clerk for the Ministry of Defence after the Second World War, helping with the run-down in the armed forces, which happened in that period. By 1950 she was no longer needed, and had to find another job.

She applied for a job as a clerk in a Real Estate Office. She was duly invited for an interview. She arrived at the officer early. A friendly-looking girl greeted her and invited her in. She sat her down and told her “Mr Johnson would be free to see her shortly.” Daisy sat down, her intelligent blue eyes looking round the office. The other girl retreated to behind her typewriter on her desk. Daisy smiled at her. The other girl smiled back, then she suddenly opened up.

“Look I wish you all the best, but I think I should warn you. You have applied to take my job. I am leaving, as I cannot stand Mr Johnson any longer. I have worked her for six months and I still don’t even know his first name, and he never uses mine. He never appreciates anything I do. He expects me to work long hours for low pay, and I am just sick of it. If you can stomach it, then you are a better person than me, that’s all I can say!”

Daisy smiled again.

“Thanks”.

But by this time, Daisy’s mother’s health was started to fail. She needed this job – no matter how lowly paid it was.

Mr Johnson duly returned. Unsmilingly he ordered Daisy into his office. He sat her down, examined her qualifications and references, and without even looking at her, offered her the job. Somewhat taken back, Daisy asked, -

“Aren’t you going to interview anyone else?”

“You were the only applicant Miss Smith.”

That is how she started work there. Although he was extremely cold, there was something attractive about him, she thought. He was tall, dark and handsome. Against that he was bossy and, as she had been warned, unappreciative. However she felt in the right hands…….

They worked together for some time. Their private lives were never discussed. It was a very professional relationship. He would give her details to type up, tell her to make coffee for him and clients when they came to either buy or sell. Little by little she learned about the business. Gradually she realised that she had much better “people skills” than he did. She could some up customers by their appearance and accent. She could guess what type of property they would be interested in. She would astonish him. He would take his customers into his office, with a coffer and emerge a few minutes and say something like, -

“Miss Smith I want you to show me all the details of properties in the price range of …..”

and she would already have all the relevant properties to hand, having anticipated his request.

Little by little he came to trust her more and more. He would feel safe leaving the office in her hands while he went out to either show prospective buyers round properties, or to view properties which needed selling. Little by little he became more and more confident about leaving her. He left her for longer and longer periods. Business was good. Profits were rolling in. She knew this, as one of her jobs was to do the books. She felt a little resentful that she still hadn’t been given any sort of pay rise.

Even in those days, business went slack over the summer. He now trusted her enough to leave her in charge for two weeks while he took a holiday. He was delighted how many properties she had sold while he was away. He allowed her the same holiday. She was grateful of this, but slightly bitter that he hadn’t told her of this before. She had nothing planned and it was too late to organise anything. Still it was better than nothing.

She saw in the local newspaper that a stage hypnotist was coming to town. As she wasn’t spending money on going away anywhere, she would treat herself and go to the show. After all it was something that she had always been interested in.

The show came and went, and she was amazed at all the things the hypnotist had done with his subjects. She listened and watched very carefully as he put his subjects under. She just knew that she could do the same, if only she had a chance!

When she returned to work, he asked her if she had had a good holiday. A bit surprised she told him about the visit to the stage hypnotist.

“I don’t believe in all that nonsense, Miss Smith, and I’m surprised at a smart girl like you wasting your time and money on such things.”

“It’s not nonsense sir.”

“Yes it is, I bet no one could hypnotise me, Miss Smith.”

“I bet I could sir.”

He laughed.

“You, I’d like to see you try!”

“Of course sir.”

She drew some spirals on a bit of paper and attached the center to an electric fan, which she used to keep herself cool at this time of year.

“Ok sir, just look at this.”

He turned to see the paper rotating.

“Ok just look at the spiral. Notice how it pulls you in. Take some nice big breaths for me sir. That’s right. Keep listening to my voice. Keep looking at the spiral. Don’t take your eyes away from it. Let yourself relax. That is right. You are doing so well. You are still breathing deeply. You are relaxing more and more. See the lines on the spiral. See how relaxing it is to watch them. Just listen to my sweet voice and lose yourself in my voice. You are doing so very well. You deserve some nice quiet relaxation after all that time you have been without me. You have been working so very hard. You need to relax now. That is right. Relax, relax, and relax even more for me. Go deeper for me. Just trust in me completely. I am your trusted worker. You know how much you can trust in me. Carry on breathing deeply. Let yourself go even deeper now. Your eyes are feeling so very, very heavy now. You cannot keep your eyes open. When I click my fingers you will sleep for me.”

She clicked her fingers and his eyes shut instantly.

“You are doing so very well. Now, when you awake you will feel refreshed, relaxed and happy. From now on, you are going to arrive at work 10 minutes earlier and we are going to start each day like this, you understand?”

He nodded. She woke him up. Gradually she converted him to her way of thinking. He made her a partner in the business. He married her eventually. They had a daughter. Then in due course the daughter had her own daught. She was called Stacy BurkeJanelle or something. I’m sorry I don’t know what happened to her, I don’t know whether she inherited her grandmother’s abilities or not, but she grew up sharing her grandmother’s views about the roles of men and women!
